What up Snow monkey, I took my 4runner up to Sandia Crest and down the back way to Placitas on Sunday. The road was snowpacked from the ski area most of the way down. Lots of stuck trucks, the 4runner was awesome. After yesterday Wolf Creek should be great powder!

Later,
Robb

I went to the cabin the other day..

I took an little trip to my dads cabin the other day, the girlfriend was out of town on business so I though what the hell, only I took my Miata and didnt check the weather! We got about 1.5" of snow, not much at all unless your in a 2000 poud rear wheel drive car with 10" wide racing tires I had a lot of fun..... NOT. I got so pissed off just trying to get the damn car to move out of a gas station I though blood was going to start shooting out of my ear! Anyway I too can wait for a real snow so I can get my truck out in it

Its snowing here in Central Wash. finally. Spose to get tackled by 11-20 inches on the pass and 6-12 in the eastern part of the state. so i think we will get somewhere right in the middle of that. cant wait for the mall mounds

please stop all laughing when writing a response to my question. i got my runner in february and we dont get much snow in charlotte...and i didnt even have my license yet, so i didnt drive for the 15 inches we did get randomly late feb. anyways, what tips (since i know a lot of you like to mess around in 2, then shift into 4 for the real stuff) do you have for driving in the snow in 2wd? my bg all terrains are pretty good tires...thats bout all i got, plus a crazy 16 year old driver...any tips would be appreciated so i dont kill myself, i still wana have fun...one of my friends has a sweet 94 runner that we go wheeling together and he pulls me out...any advice, thanks

Northface,
The key to driving in the snow is that no matter how many wheels get you going, there isn't anything that will help you stop. Your truck will actually stop better than our 4x4s in the snow because of weight/inertia. Always watch your speed and take your time. Thats pretty much all you can do. If you go wheeling in the snow you might as well just park it if you don't have a locker. You don't really have hills in charlotte so thats a big help. Also if your playing around in an abandoned parking lot the main problem that you could run into (other than hitting something that is burried in the snow... is if when your sliding siteways your tires suddenly grab traction and you flip your truck. You have to espcially be careful of that when its just slushy stuff that we NCers usually get...

yup, well put turboale.

just take it slow, learn the limits slowly and pretty soon you'll have the expertise needed to have fun at the same time.

Went up with a buddy yesterday to the snow so his family could get an x-mas tree. Most of the road was hard packed snow and lots of ice. His big arse dodge was skating around the whole time and nearly got stuck a couple times. The Toyota did great till we were heading back home. Just got off the slippery stuff when the alt belt decided to shred itself. My buddy found a guy who had a Toyota and lucky for me had a spare belt (thx whoever you were!) Rolled the belt on (didn't have tools) and we were on our way again. I now have spare belts and a small tool kit in the truck Also changed out all the belts for new ones, what a pain in the butt!

Dang White83,
Your one lucky sun of a gun! Thats kind-of like me but it was with a CV... busted my first one last wheel'n trip and luckily Brett had one. I was freaking out as it was the weekend before finals week and I didn't want to be stuck in BFE NC on finals week

Yamaha,
Nice to meet another Austin, there aren't too many... those pics look awesome too... MAN I can't wait to see the white stuff!!

Hey Scof my GF's mom was telling us my GF's dad that works in Anchorage is in -29 weather. How close are you to that? Were still only getting down to 29.

When that pic was taken last night it was -24c (-13f I think).

The forecast also has a 'feels like' statistic, counting in windchill, and it 'felt like' -33c.
