Kickin' Revo Deal and 3rd Gen Limited Size Question

Revo Deal: I just got off the phone with Costco, and the "special order" price for 265/75R16 is $137 each. Four to six days for Costco to receive them. That includes mounting and balancing, but they do not have the Haweka assembly. So take off $11 per tire. Throw on top the $60 off Bridgestone/Michellin coupon. Total price $111 each. And find your own m/b guy (~$15 per tire). You just can't beat that.

Question: Will these puppies fit my ride (3rd Gen Ltd stock)?? Please let me know soon, the coupon expires June 26.

I just got mine on two days ago. They fit nicely and look so much better than the 265/70 dunlops that were on there.

Make sure they are the real Revos since when I went down to Costco they quoted me the price on the regualr duelers and several other people I know got the wrong tires.

I will definitely do that. Thanks for the heads up.

You can tell right away by looking at the tread on them.

Regular Dueller AT:

True Dueller Revo:

Revos have that trademark bandsaw tread that runs down the center of the tire.

Just to make you aware. Costco's policy is to only mount tires that they have listed as the stock size for the car/truck. The 3rd gen 4Runner is listed as 265/70/16, and they will not mount any other size tire.

I know this because I found out the hard way.

they don't have the haweka adapter anyway, so he was just buying them at costco and then taking them somewhere else for M&B.

Yeah, the guy on the phone said they wouldn't mount and balance them. Which is when I asked how much cheaper they'd be. Paying an extra $4 a tire is not a problem. I have a very good body shop guy up here (northern MD) anyway with the Hunter/Haweka. Plug for Bill Denny's CarStar.

Can't you take off and bring your wheels to Costco inside a different vehicle?

From my conversation with a tech at a really big Toyota dealership I gathered that the Haweka adapter is not a necessity. Sometimes it will balance best with it, sometimes without it. The guy did 3 test drives to get it right. He said even if it looks good on the balancing machine it does not mean it will drive good.

The guy established credibility in my eyes by balancing each wheel using only one tiny wheel (10-20grams) weight, and it drives great. At least milk Costco for mounting them, it’s $60 at Toyota just to balance all four.

I will stick with Denny's. My parents and I have been going to him for 20 years. They will take care of me, no doubt. If it is messed up, they will fix it.

Have to agree that Costco have a crappy tires mount/balance policy.

Then why even buy from Costco if all they are doing is ordering them for you? $137 x 4 + sales tax = $563. I got a set online shipped for $500 in 2003. Ship it to Denny even, and let him handle it. One less time to wash hands.

I got my Revos mounted at Costco (60$ deal on Bridgestone tires a while back) and had no issues with the balancing job. I might have been lucky though only the dealer had been able to balance my old tires.

The end price of Costco will be $109 per tire ($135 minus $11 for NOT M/B and minus $15 for the coupon). Then add $15 each M/B at Denny, I get the tires good to go for $500.

I have the Revo's on my LTD 4R. They rub SOMETIMES when backing up or driving in reverse and turning the wheel.
I have an '02 which sits lower than the earlier 3rd gens  , so that may be why.
