Toyotas will run forever. I just called to check in on my mom, and she was commenting that she just passed 300,000 on her 1999 Sienna today. That thing has never had more work than brakes, oil changes, and tires.

wow, i always thought toyota's last forever..... all this concern over 150k?
i have 150k-ish on the 81, but only 30k on the motor.
i have 286k on my 91 chevy K1500.... original 350 motor, and the trans lasted 260k.... about 100k more then 700r4s normally last.
its all about preventative maintenance. oil changes every 3k (or i run synthetic in my chev at 5k) and keeping the other little things like fuel, air and other filters changed out keep darn near any motor running trouble free for a long, long time.

i have 184,xxx on my 84... HA
but that's nothing.. my wife;s old 96 camry 4cyl had 275,000 when we gave it to her sister...
She's driven it every day for 8 months now, and shes gettin really close to the 300K mark, with no major problems, never been rebuilt! that deserves a sticker or something....

Just a quick $0.02,
you've made it to 144K so far and thats pretty good. I'm at 153K now on my 99SR5 and I'm still going strong. Alot of the engine failures you hear about are at heavy acceleration at 4000 to 5000 + RPM's (near or over redline)...If you let your rig warm up properly (by light driving right away..not ideling) and don't "get on it" too bad I think you'll be ok... I sure hope so.

Ive got a '99 TRD taco (got it @125k) and it was fairly well taken care of. Ive done all the regular maintenance myself (except for when i broke the e-locker) and things seem well. what are the signs of this danger?

Keep it up, y'all! Those Yota's have a long way to go. Mine will hit 403,000 miles on the way to work in just a few minutes. Original engine, just a t-chain and a valve job at 300K. Tranny needed new bearings and synch's at about 185K, but that's when I was abusing it every day for a work truck... heavy loads. Been through a couple of clutches, too.
As far as warming up, I do it everyday. At least 1-2 minutes of idling before I take off, nothing excessive.
