I am at 144 and Im starting to get nervous. It takes like a second longer to start now.
I love my runner but the owner before me (who had it for 6 years) did not take good care of it so I am afraid it won't last me :[

Just a quick $0.02,
you've made it to 144K so far and thats pretty good. I'm at 153K now on my 99SR5 and I'm still going strong. Alot of the engine failures you hear about are at heavy acceleration at 4000 to 5000 + RPM's (near or over redline)...If you let your rig warm up properly (by light driving right away..not ideling) and don't "get on it" too bad I think you'll be ok... I sure hope so.

Exactly. I almost always let mine warm up to operating temperature before driving it. I sure your's will be fine 4runnagurl

things to think about
Is your starter is starting to work slowly? If so, the contacts may be wearing out. Another point is that the spark plugs which are 30K to 45K (max) mile plugs may be due for a change...that is, if you have not done so allready. Also, if your vehicle was abused, why not switch to a slightly thicker, High miliage formula oil like Mobil 1 10W30. It will cost more, yet it may help clear out some sludge caused by P.O abuse. You can be perfectly fine with changeing it every 5K 6K Miles....? Castrol GTX (for sludge deposits) and Mobil clean 5000/7500 are pretty good too... just a thought.

I'm at 109500. Not even close to the half way point.
He said, NOT idling. You should drive right after you start the truck and take it EASY until it warms up. Idling is not necessary, is not good for the environment, you take a hit at the gas pump, and it doesn't allow your drivetrain to warm up properly. When you start driving after start up, it allows your engine to warm up ALONG WITH your diff's, x-fer case, transmission, etc.

Just hear me out, i usually run out in the morning, start up my truck run inside and brush my teeth, then run back out, and its usually warm. Thats maybe 3-4minutes tops.
I then take it easy, i still don't drive it like a maniac, but take it easy.
What i was getting at, was to just let it warm up and continue to take it kind of easy.
I always see people start it up and drive like a bat out of hell right away, and i try to avoid that.
