Oh sorry...
if you read up Dr. Z's initial write-up he talks about how he went to the muffler shop and found that the part that worked best for him was a 2.5" wide pipe segment. The 2.5" isn't a perfect fit apparently so he asked the guy to widen the tube a bit to 2.75" at each end.

I went to my local shop and apparently they're used to ricers always coming in and snagging extra parts so when I asked for it and the widening they gave it to me for free...
now we had to guesstimate for the width so it may be closer to 2.6" than 2.75"
I'm not sure

If you want it you're way welcome to it

Oh, another question- why aren't you using it? Did you get two made?

Yes. 99-up intakes would use the pipe as they have a two part intake hose with the resonator in the middle. Older models have the one piece hose with all of the intake silencer crap hanging off of it, which is what you remove - then you cap off the holes you just created in the intake.

My plan is to put the 99-up style hoses on my 97 with the pipe in the middle, since it would be cleaner in appearance. It might also smooth out the airflow a bit as well.

While you've got the intake hose off, take some carb cleaner and a rag and clean out your throttle body! Mine had a nice coating of gunk in there. Wear goggles when you do it, if that stuff sprays back in your eyes you can go blind!

I noticed it took a little while to start and idled way high for a bit after cleaning that - I assume the cleaner was interfering with some sensor - but it normalled out after a couple miles of driving, and after I let it warm up.

I currently have just the plumbing endcaps, with all the silencers removed (three total). I've got a way to splice in a pipe with the current intake, but it involves cutting out the middle piece of the current intake, so if I messed up I'd be ˟˟˟˟˟ed. So, the caps work for now.

Mad Chemist:

ooh yeah, good idea! I should have had 2 made. Pity, I didn't.

Actually, I was gearing up to do this mod and got all the parts before I looked under the hood
Turns out the Tacoma's intake silencer/reducer is a bit smaller and attached off to the side and not smack in the middle of the intake.

So really, I have absolutely no use for it. Maybe a paperweight?

I'm not sure if it'll fit your needs but you may want to check out the write ups (there's like 3 versions for 3 different engines) to see what engine yours matches up with.

To make it easy here it is

sorry, your last post popped up while I was posting mine.

So I guess it's still up for grabs?
