intake+headers+exhaust=loss of torque?

intake+headers+exhaust=loss of torque?

i have bolted on the typical late model F.I. mods (headers,intake,exhaust) and seem to have lost power from 2,000 to 3,800 rpm the truck struggles at mid rpm yet at low and high rpm it seems to be fine. what could the problem be?

What size engine & what diameter exhaust?
With the 2 1/2" diam exh and the use of a 22r, the velocity of the system decreases with larger diameter exhaust and the end result is decrease low end ( 2000 - 4500 rpm's) :cry:

the taco has a 2.7 L 4cyl and exhaust is 2.25in also i have 31'' tires and no regear could that play a big part in what is going on? and what can i do to fix the problem?
