Installing a transmission temperature gauge.

In a 2003 FSM I saw something like 302 deg F is where the light comes on, but it will then stay on until the ATF temp drops down to about 250 deg F.

THATS HOT!!!
A while back I found a webpage that talked about what temperature dino ATF breaks down at, and what temp internal parts get damaged at, and how long fluid is good for at certain temps... really wish I could find it again.
Found these, but not what i found before

So, my petroleum based ATF is borderline from 170 to 270 degrees? I routinely see temps above 200 pulling in stop & start traffic.
It's interesting that
1. When I was having A/T TEMP light issues, and
2. Seeing my gauge go as high as 250 degrees,
my ATF has never had that "burned" smell to it.
