Installed a couple accessories today (piaa's, lenses, etc.)

Today was the first really nice day out since last fall, and I was off work and I wasn't about to stay inside so I dicided to get rid of some of the parts sitting in my room and put them to some good use. I changed the oil, air filter, removed the small intake silencer and plugged it. I did the rear diff breather mod. I add already put my safari bar on but I wanted to put my new PIAA's on. They are the 520SMR Fogs. Install was pretty straight foward. Anybody no why the switch is green when the lights are off and red when they are on? They supposed to be that way? I installed the clear turn signal lenses and the clear bumper lenses too...I think the front of the truck looks a ton better. Im thinkin about what I wanna do for a grille Im thinkin about a polished grille and then adding a black toyota emblem to it. Anyway here are a couple pics of the front. Sorry for the night pics. Ive gotta take the westin sticker off yet too.

Yeah I really like it. Its not a new bumper but its not 6 bills either. Yeah it is the westin safari bar. Heres the best deal I could find. Safari Bar

The PIAA's I got off of Ebay, they were about $180 plus shipping. I think those set it off though. Deff. worth it, all the hardware is top notch.

Can you get a picture of the 2 mounting points in one picture? Think you can take a measurement between the 2 mounting points. I would really appreciate it, I am really considering this mod.

WOW! That is an incredible looking truck!

Good deal on the westin too! My dad's westin in chrome was $340!

Vato, I don't think you'll have a problem lining up; my dad's 03 bumper lined up with the tow hooks on my 87. I think they've kept them pretty much the same all along. The only thing to look for is clearing the front bumper.

Oh, and for the grill, I actually really like the dark look of your front end. I think a brushed aluminum grill would destroy that look. If you can get a black mesh (like the gutter guard stuff), and mount a black pearl emblem, I think it would look awesome.

Thanks for the good words. I know what your saying and I think the same way one day and another way a different day so who knows. Theres lots of combinations I have considered. Maybe get rid of my chrome grill and go with a black "bar" style and a chrome Toyota emblem heck I dunno.

Hey cruizin, thanks for the info, looks like thats next on my list. Got my nerf bars in that were supposed to be " no drilling" but that was the 2wd only, the crossmember is in the way of the front mount so I have to drill around it

Thanks for the pics! You have to a buy a mounting kit also? How far would you say the tow hook mounts are far from the front of the bumper?

Yeah they use the same bar for all trucks and then just change the bracket. That site I linked includes the bracket in that price. Most of the sites list them seperately. Im at work right now. I wont be able take measurements untill tomarrow but Im sure some other tacoma owners wouldn't mind chiming in. If not Ill get with you tomarrow. ~D

I had some PIAA lights on my Honda and the indicator lights behaved the same. Green when off and Red when on. Not sure why it's like that.

Red is more likely to grab your attention. Red is the caution color. I don't know about you guys but I wired my fogs independent to the headlights so it's always nice to have an indicator to remind me to shut them off. Not that I'd forget cause they're kind of hard to miss but it's still nice
