Idle Surge question

Idle Surge question
Ok sometimes (like half of the time) my truck idles and every couple of seconds it misses, this is only when my foot on the brake. At first i thought it was the brake booster, but it only does it selective time and not when its cold (high idle). I checked all my vacuum lines and its seems to be kosher. Could it be my booster (220 bucks ouch) or something stupid?

I posted something earlier today regarding the exact same issue I'm having. I'm still waiting and hoping someone would know what it could be.

Are you sure there is not a miss in all cases? Take a dollar bill, hold it tight about 1/2 inch off the tailpipe, and listen for a loud pop. If the bill get's popped, then you have a miss no matter what.
I just dont see how a brake booster could cause a miss. A miss is almost always timing related. Plugs, wires, timing...that would be my next check.

I'm gonna go ahead and say check the AIV if it's a second gen. when misfunctioning it will cause erratic idle. Second, check the signal generator in the distributor. That is if you have a second gen with a v6.

when your engine is up to operating temp and with your foot NOT on the brake what is your idle at?
if its more than 650-750 then you need to adjust it down.

You guy's are not the first one's to have this problem, I think that was one of my first post questions. I am supprized you didn't find about 100 post on this by searching. I found 51 just by typing in 22RE idle. Search results Anyway two things.
1.
Your idle is set to high. The 22RE computer has a mapping in it that cuts alot of things down or off when the brakes are applied. Try warming up you truck to normal operating temp, then step on the brakes. Idle will go up and down, in a cycle. Adjust the idle set screw down a little, step on the brakes. If it stops cycleing you got it, if not turn the idle down a little more until it stops cycling.
2.
You have a vacum leak, you might not see it but it is there. Try taking some carb cleaner or brake cleaner, and spraying it around each vacum hose and fitting 1 at a time. If the idle goes up when you spray the hose/ fitting that is your leak.
Before you play with the idle, make sure you scrub and clean the TB out really well. Spray/Clean all of the ports, especialy the idle port chamber. Then go adjusting it.
Let me know if you need more info.

Although this is probably not your problem, if you replace it any time I would recommend this route.
