The new body style is due out soon. It is supposed to grow in size.

I figured there would be a new Tacoma out soon since the 4Runner and Tacoma seem closely related and the new 4Runner has been out since 03. And nice as hell by the way.

I was looking into this too not long ago. Who knowes, the way im flip flopping on the newer vehicle situation, I may end up with one. I myself wanted a x cab because I currently have a 94 regular cab and If I had to use it to to haul me, my wife and infant, its a very tight squeeze. Plus, I always have stuff all beside me anyway. I did not want a 4 door because you loose some bed space and I often use ALL the bed space I have now. So for me it would be a 4x4 ex cab 5 speed with sr5 package and I guess the trd package. The sr5 adds I think, power windows and such. I wish I had that in my std cab. Also, make sure yours is geared for 31" tires. My 94 was geared for 28". Thats what the trd package will add I think. Have fun.

Can I interest you in a really clean 2000 4Runner?

If not, then I recommend a 5-speed 98+ x-cab Taco, 3.4L. If you need to take people anywhere for more than 1/2 hour at a time, then go with a double cab, but you can only get those in AT, which isn't my thing, not sure about you though.

I got tired of the Auto in my 98 Taco.

Yo Quero Taco

I have owned both a 96 4WD ext cab Taco manual tranny which I put 98K miles on in a bit less than two years, and a 99 4WD ext cab Taco auto tranny. Both vehicles were loaded up with all the power options, cruise, CD, sunroof, etc. Both were EXCELLENT vehicles. If you drive in the city a lot like I did (Atlanta) the manual tranny made my left knee hurt all the time. I would recommend 4WD, auto tranny, ext. cab, something a couple years old, less than 50-60K miles with the other equipment you prefer and in the color you like. Befriend one of the salesman at the dealership, tell them exactly what you want and I bet they can find one on the little computer within 5 minutes.
