How to repair frame rust or atleast extend frame life?
So I have a 1996 standard cab V6 manual trans E-Locker equipped Tacoma with 152,000 miles on it. I love this truck given its options and would really like to hang on to it for a long time. My question is how can I extend the life of the frame or fix it? Specifically the frame rust issue. It spent some time in a drier climate so it isn’t too bad at this point but I know that rust doesn’t sleep! I have seen the frame reinforcement plates that vendors sell but after some thought I figured they are not really the answer to a rusty frame. A guy would basically have to box the whole frame, correct? I mean welding plates to the exterior of a very thin/rusty walled frame doesn’t do much good if the frame is in bad shape. I keep thinking that the bottom of the frame will all have to be plated to really solve the problem or at least buy me more time. Please share your thoughts.
Thanks in advance for any input and suggestions!

One just needs to keep an eye on this things. This new liquid brine is brutal on vehicles and bridges.
I have known some people that never drive there truck in any weather but sun shine.
Pressure wash the vehicle once a week or so in the winter.
I have heard some people spray drain oil on the frame during the winter but they are from Maine so no telling.
you can pull the bed every spring sand blast and repaint the frame.
One also has to worry about the steel brake and fuel lines as well.
Any frame can be repaired it is a matter of how much time and money one wants to spend.
it seems the worse spot is the area near the rear spring hanger after the years all the road dirt blocks the drain holes.
It just rusts from the inside out
Why do you think plating a frame does not help ??
Every frame repair is different I just do what needs to be done to make it correct
