How much suspension lift can I go with Bilstein BE5-2450/2451?

How much suspension lift can I go with Bilstein BE5-2450/2451?

Hi,

I understand that the Bilstein BE5-2450/2451 shocks are for stock 3rd gen suspensions. So, if I use it for a lifted truck, how much lift can these shocks safely tolerate?

I plan to go for Bilsteins as I have been told that Bilsteins have better valving than Ranchos but I'm having a hard time researching for a replacement of my RS9000 RS9171J front shocks which got busted recently.

are these just the basic HD shocks? Might want to look into longer shocks? What about OMEs?

Yes, those are the basic HD shocks. There's no mention on the Bilstein website about an application for lifted 3rd gens.

Yes, I'm also looking at OME N91S/N86. Unfortunately, I could not find data on the extended/compressed lengths of the OMEs.

Also, I'm looking at Tundra shocks. I understand that Tundra coils can be used on 3rd gens. Does it follow that Tundra front shocks can also be used? Are the shock mounts the same?

I think the taco shocks will work better.

I have heard people running the FZJ80 shocks on the 3rd gens.

what is life made up of?

Now all I need to look for is for the front struts N91S. I see from your sig that you got the N91SC. Is that the same as the N91S? Mind giving me the lengths?

I dont know the lenghts, but the C simply means "comfort". they ride will be more plush.

Yep, the C on the end of each P/N means they are the comfort version instead of the firms.
If you are doing alot of offroad, then most go with the N91S firms.

Not sure what you want on lengths, I have them installed on mine already.
If you are asking for length differences between the comforts and the firms, they are exactly the same.

I don't do much offroad but I'll be needing the firm ones to reduce body roll that usually goes with a higher suspension lift.

Actually, I was referring to the compressed and extended lengths so I can compare with my current shocks. I just thought that you might have the info regarding this dimensions.

BTW, your sig says ...N86C/N91SC Lift. How does N91SC differ from N91S and N91C?

Body roll can be helped by stiff shocks like bils (which can give a harsh ride...IMHO), but you won't notice much difference on the compression between the N91S and the N91SC, the main difference between the two is that the N91SC has a slower rebound (thus the comfort rating). If you are really concerned about body roll, I advise to invest in some Addco front and rear sway bars. It will handle far better than stock even with a lift.

Sorry I don't have the info on the shocks, you might want to PM Steve or maybe Andy (Bamachem) and see if they know the answer to that one.

Last Night I Finished installing My 2 1/2'' Lift on my 97 4runner(GOD WHAT A PAIN). I also repleaced all my shocks with Bilstein's that I ordered from Auto Zone. I went riding for a little while last night and wow I Love Bilstein's!!! Very smooth ride even with a 2 1/2 lift too. I think im gonna get me my 285 75 today aswell. When the new tires are on i'll post a before and after pic.
