You will probably need to take your own peace of wire and ground it yourself I have the hood pin my runner but I never really had a clue what it was for until now lol. Good luck.

Is this a factory installed alarm or aftermarket?
Might help to know what alarm we're talking about here.
I installed an aftermarket and had to put one in (including running the gray wire to the hood switch pin).

sounds like the install manual is telling you to ground the gray wire from the brain....although it might be more of a pain to install a hood pin you really should just as a safety, I did so on my gf's car when i installed her remote start... if you do make sure to put some kind of epoxy on it or some thing to prevent rust or corrosion.

Thats so it cant be started if you are having it serviced. Not much fun changing belts and hoses while the engine starts by itself. Not to mention while there is no oil in the engine. The alarm remote start can be triggered by unwanted means. Its also good to have a switch to stop it from starting in an enclosed garage attached to your house.
