My rear bumper and side pieces are in process (1st coat). Pics should be up soon.
I've learned a couple things today:
1. The type of foam roller really affects the end product (look and feel). I used more expensive (dense) foam on the front bumper, and I found it clumping easier. This time I went with a much cheaper generic foam roller from Lowe's and it went on much better.
2. The type of tray you use also makes a big difference. A tray with a textured spot to roll your roller on is ideal. It gets rid of the clumpiness and makes it more of an even spread over the roller head. I didn't use a very good one the first time.
Man, this stuff really goes the distance. I should have 1/4 can left after two coats on the front and rear bumpers. Cool.

glad to hear everything is going well. would love to see some pics in progress too. yea i found that the cheaper the roller, the better.
btw, that story of the guy on explorer forums getting it on himself while taking a piss was absolutely hilarious. i didnt read too much of it, just the highlights, but it look like he scored some free stuff...hats and shirts haha.

Pic of the rear...
This pic was taken about 30 hours after application. I also followed the advice of others and put clear coat on over the Herculiner. It is shiny because it is so new and has clear on it.
In addition to the rear bumper and side pieces, I hit the fender trim too. Everything came out awesome!
Again, use a respirator for this you guys! It just isn't worth breathing in these fumes! $27 for a decent one at Lowe's.

Christian, how about a whole truck pic? Does Northfacer get the props on the board for this mod? I think any Herculiner on the yotas should not be called the Northfacer mod...

Sorry - you've officially exceeded the number of different shades of the color black one is allowed on their rig. You will now have to switch to a new color. Plus OSHA will be stopping by to ensure compliance with the MSDS procedures that accompanied the Herculiner material. ha ha ha.

I only drift my rig because I can't afford a third car to slide on the street So I feel like a drift champion on the dirt with my open diff. Hooray for me for combining the best of both worlds! I'm the dirt drift king of the Chandler/Gilbert area...

this is really a great idea. i want to do my rear chrome bumper (chrome is ugly), how should i go about removing the chrome? should i just sand it... alot? and then apply?
