HELP!!! The Runner won't start
:cry: Hey guys - I was just leaving work and went out to start my 4runner and I first noticed that the remote entry was not working. So I used the key to unlock the doors and put it into the ignition and nothing. It won't start at all. I know I didn't leave the lights on or anything because they automatically turn themselves off when the car is powered off. The only thing I can think of is, a little after I got here (around 4pm) it is now 8pm) I went out and closed the sunroof so that it would not be super cold when I got in tonight, but I opened the runner from the passenger side and stuck the key in the ignition to close the roof. So I am thinking that the alarm may have disabled the car but I am not sure. Any advice will be of help. Thanks

What year is your runner? Which alarm does it have? Are there any sounds at all when you try to start it (like clicking sounds from the starter)? Are there any lights on, like the alarm LED or the domelights?
On most alarms you can disable it by putting the key into the ignition and turning it to "on". Then flip the hidden toggle switch.

It's a 99 4runner. We figured it out. Apparently when I stuck the key in the ignition to shut the sunroof, the lights came on and since I did not open the drivers door the lights never turned off and drained the battery. So a friend and I jumped it and it started right away. I do think that it is odd that my lights drained the battery in 4 hours but the cold air may have played a role in it.

Hmmm, that is a little strange, I've had my maplights on all night and it still started in the morning (although a little weak). Oh well, live an learn

Battery
With the cold weather we have been having here in VA, I wouldn't be surprised.
Plus OEM batteries aren't know for their longevity...
Give that thing a good slow charge.... Then get it load tested.
At least it will warm up over the next couple of days!
