HELP! Need Suggestions On Engine/Parts Venders?
Please refer to "Loud!! Knocking Noise" Thread Aug 2, 2004
Hey... just preparing myself for the worse.
Now ... in pricing what it would cost to rebuild an engine versus just ordering a remanufactured one I've decided that if need be maybe I'll stick a 22re Turbo in my rig ... but then again maybe not. A V-6 maybe (the 3z whatever it be). Yet in searching the web who can you trust? Who do you guys recommend? As it all depends on my limited resources I'll probably do the job myself ... there again who would you order parts from (trust worthiness)?
Just curious though ... what is the horse power on a V-6 versus 22RE Turbo?
Like I said ... I'll probably end up rebuilding my present heap myself if need be.
Any suggestions?
It does hurt ....

if you threw a rod, then it may not be able to be rebuilt.... the turbo 22r is not a direct swap and a lot needs to be done to it to make it work.... the v6 is also a pita as far as a swap... you mnight look into overseas imported engines... the 22r around here with 30k on it runs only $300

That is cheap. Everything I've seen on searches averages $1500 for a remanufactured setup (long block 22re).
Guess I'll look again (local) lol!
I'm pretty convinced it is serious though ... double checked the alignment marks (chain / crank / cam) and all looks well. Would it being off a tooth cause that kinda noise anyhow?
Thanks

Reconditioned means rebuilt to me, low mileage is all together different. 30k miles in japan is barely broken in for a 22r here in the states.

I should snap a foto of me in front of my wheeler here. Was in afghan for a short stretch last year. yes there are in fact are a couple runners over here, but they're pretty Haji'd out. The newer imports are the Nissan Patrols and the toyota prado's which are nice and big and have the V-8's. My current rig over here is a bare bones desert cammie milspec Hummer. Ya and I'm better on aircraft too. I miss my F-18's from my days in the Corps. Now I get to play with and fly around on all manner of Army helo's.

Oh but back to your question, Ya you should do a google search for recycled import engines. That should give you plenty of links to browse.
