Help With 4wd!

Hi, Ive just recently registered to yotatech and figured that I could get some suggestions with my 4runner 4WD. The 4runner has 135,000 miles, but these are babied miles, not really any 4 wheelin. The 4WD was acting up, and was not engaging so I took it over to a toyo mechanic to have it checked. After a week they returned to me saying their diagnotics brought up no negative results with the electronics. Also that the 4WD was sometimes engaging and sometimes nothing at all, no ind. light or anything even in 4L. Their conclusion was that the whole actuator or ecu may need to be replaced but that it wouldn't garuntee anything.....So now im left with the option of playing with everything myself or just spending a big chunk of cash to fix my problem. My 4runner has the push button high 4 but im guessing since manually 4L does nothing either, that my problem must be concerning the actuator or vacuum. Although the 4runner may engage into 4WD now, im not going to chance it getting stuck that way until ive got some good options or opinions. Im open to all suggestions and would rather fix this situation myself. Thanks

Andrew
