headlights

lookin for the halogen conversion lamps for a 94 toy pickup, any info is great, thanks dpiza2002@yahoo.com
and can someone briefly explain a locker, thanks

I don't know much about the halogen conversions except for the fact that they're expensive, like the HID units.

Here's what I did to get a better light output: Wiring Harness

Get that harness and a set of Sylvannia Silverstar sealed beam lamps, and it'll give you a considerable amount more light than stock.

Hella also makes a brighter lamp that's a direct replacement for your stock lamps, and would work better than the Silverstars, but cost more. Expect to pay about $40 per lamp if you order from them. Performance Products is the only place I've seen carry them.

A locker is a traction aiding device that is placed in or replaces your differential which will allow for both wheels to spin at all times. Currently, you have an open differential which allows for only one wheel to spin, and that's always gonna be the wheel with the least amount of traction, which does nothing to help out off-road. There are 2 basic kinds of lockers, posi's and limited slips. A posi will keep both wheels spinning at all times no matter what, so this makes for a change in on-road handling but offers the best traction off-road. There are also selectable lockers that engage as a posi with the flip of a switch and act as an open differential when off, but those tend to cost more. A limited slip will allow the wheel with the least amount of traction spin a little before engaging, which makes for better on-road handling than a posi, but can cause setbacks off-road. If you reply with how much you actually wheel, I could make a better recommendation as to which locker you should get.

I did the Bosch H4 swap in my '93 and then just upgraded to 80/100w bulbs. Not quite as legal as some options but very bright, cheap and I have not had any broblems with Johnny Law and I rarely even get high beamed w/ the 80w lows. The beam pattern of the Bosch kit is very good. The low beam is aimed flat and low (if you set it right) and does not hit eye level except for some hills.

I did the bosh conversion kit too they are great...but don't use the piaa super white lamps they dont worh well in this appliation the 80/100 blue whites work much better there is also a set available from TOUCAN industries...they are a clear face with funky reflector and a little mini blue "mood "? lamp. I don't know what the light pattern would be from these ones though they are sold individually , go figure, at CAN$ 40.00 a piece without the lamp from speed shops...you can get the bosch set as a pair with lamps ( 55w/65w ) from CANADIAN TIRE for CAN$ 89.99...try online I think CT has a web sales site. good luck Aviator
