Glasspack
I was looking into some glasspack mufflers.
Over here in wisconson I found a place that sells them for 8 bucks a pop.
from what I'm told they are LOUD.
What I was wondering was if I was to install a 20" long with a 2.25" inlet/outlet glasspack, would it exceed the 95dbi legal sound level?
They come with baffles to mellow them out a bit.
Glasspacks made by some company called 'Hush-powered'

As a general rule of thumb, glass packs are too lound to be legal. They tend to produce a very sharp abrasive sound.
Because of the louvers punched in the sides of them exposing the glass "packing", they tend to not flow that well. If installed backwards, they flow horribly.

Oops nevermind about the Vortex, I found the site.
Well, if I get a flowmaster, what should I look for? Should the inlet and Outlet be offset or in the center? 2.25" or 2.5"?
I'm goin with Flowmaster 40, the shop offered to put it in for 80 bucks if I got my own muffler.

I went with 2.5 center in and 2.5 center out, the model was 42440 I think.

Glasspacks are loud, but I don't really think it's a GOOD loud...
You should think harder about a regular aftermarket muffler... glasspacks sound like ass and backfire like crazy...

. Seriously, it doesn't sound ricey (bees in a coffee can). I would never run that way. It is loud, and you have to like the unique sound to run exhaust this way. In all honesty, I would like to go with a Magnaflow 18" with a 2.5" diameter all the way back. But that is $$ and the glasspack is cheap. Trust me, if it sounded like crap I would be the first person in the garage with a sawzall. I have actually got more compliments than looks of disgust as I drive through parking lots and pulled up to people at stoplights. In fact, I have had people roll down their windows and ask what "I had in there."
I kind of mumble "itsaglazpack" under my breath.

80 dollar install??? You should NEVER pay more than 40 for labor of a muffler install. 80 should include the whole shabang, including a tip and all new piping... GEEZE!! don't let them charge you 80 labor for just the muffler, i promise you can find WAY better deals.

Edit: this includes the muffler, pipes, and a new high-flow cat!

I mentioned what you said about labor and instantly got offered a cat for free, new pipes, and the Flowmaster super 40 for 120 bucks installed, and I can even wait at the shop cause they guy says the job would be done in a second cause hes done so many.
