FWIW my thoughts on brands of tires I've had on my 4R

Stock Goodyear Wranglers
These tires were soft and the tread wore very fast (within 35k miles).

BFG AT k/o's
Bought these tires just as the (then) new K/O design was available. There tires lasted for over 60k miles and got me into and out of all the places I ventured.

Goodyear MTR's
I bought these as soon as they were available. The tread was very aggressive and the traction was great. However, they didn't last long... a typical Goodyear trait I suppose. These were undrivable on rain slick roads within 25k.

Dunlop Mud Rover
I got these tires because I was doing a lot of kayak hauling up in Arkansas at the time. These were pretty good in the mud but they didn't last much longer than the MTR's. Within 35k they were toast.

BFG MT's
I finally got the mud tire that I should have bought to start with. These tires were very good in the gumbo mud I have to drive in on construction sites and they were great on the pavement too. One thing about them is that I could not keep them balanced for anything. But that was a trait I noticed with the other mud tires I'd been through. Also, to get max life out of these and any other tire, you need to rotate them regularly and make sure they are inflated properly. I got 50k out of this set.

I just bought (as in last week) a new set of BFG AT's. I went back to a tire that I felt would give me decent gas mileage and wheel-a-bility. I am looking forward to having these meats on when my ODO rolls over the 250k mark.

That's what I'm going back too myself. I have a set of BFG Long trails that are just about toast.

I was thinking about the Bridgestone Revo's but I have over 400 dollars in Sams Club gift cards and they don't carry the Revo's

Thanks for this kind of info. It's great to hear others' experiences.

I am running the same ProCrap 33x12.50 Xterrains now for 12k miles and they are already chunking. That seems to be the story with these tires. The BFG are great and I will probably put those on when these are done.
