full time cigarette lighter 2nd gen??

Anybody know a quick fix to make a 2nd gen cigarette lighter have power all of the time. Trying to decide if i should just go with a two dollar power outlet from autozone and wire it myself. Thanks for any info!

From our Tech section.

Easier than messing with the wiring for your stock one, and adds more outlets too.

maddog - want to be able to run accessories all the time, like dvd players and stuff when camping without having to worry about the keys.
Corey - yeah something like that is my other option, but i was going to try to keep the stock look inside. I may end up getting a single one from autozone and mountine it somewhere close at hand under the dash to keep it out of the way. Just figured i would throw the question out there and see which would be easier.

Not hard at all to hardwire it (see the article above but apply it to your current lighter). Actually...it would be pretty slick if you just installed a switch to select between the hardwire (to battery) and to the ACC relay. Then you could have both capabilities incase you put in a radar detector or something that you want to turn off with the truck.
