Question Fuel Problems ???

We have a 97 4runner, 4cyl. , 5 speed !!! My wife drives it to school and work, Twice , she got to work and when she got off it would not start !!! Each time i went to tow it home the next day, and it fired right up ??? Then she went to warm it up at home and it fired up only to idle a short time and die !!! She ground the battery down, so i charged it back up and it fired right up and idled for a few seconds and die, now no fire !!! It has good spark, so i changed the fuel filter and now it it not getting fuel to the filter ??? Checked the relay and fuse, changed both, no fire !!! A toyota tech say these hardly ever lose fuel pumps, might be another relay ??? Any Ideas before i drop the half full tank ???

I've had similar trouble in other cars and it turned out to be the fuel relay.
