Having a top 6" tint would be nice I think. Would probably help in the direct noon sunlight by keeping the sun off the dash.
Hey SC4, I like the fact that a few of your pics are in front of a Hydro store.

No, I'm with you on that one, it doesn't look too good, but the tint looks great and 20 bucks is a $5 better deal than I got on my old 4Runner windshield tint job.

I had 50% tint on the winshield of my MR2 and loved it, night and day. It kept the sun off the interior and the whole car stayed alot cooler with the winshield and 20% on the rest of the windows. I could leave it parked in the sun for half an hour in the middle of summer and it would still be cool when I got back in. At night it really helped with the glare from oncoming cars, my eyes didnt have to adjust as much every time a car drove the other way. I plan on getting the same thing done on my 4runner, I just have to find some ghetto place to have it done because not many shops will do it here in CA
Another related question: I want my rear windows to be about at 5% or a little darker, what tint should I put over the factory to get to that level? I'll probably go with 20 on the front windows.

My brother has 50% on the windshield of his Ford. It's a black f350 and with 15's on the windows and 50 on THAT windshield it looks slick.
Perfectly fine at night IMO but its a big windshield to. I wouldnt do it on my yota.. its hard enough to see at night when wheeln, tint would just make it hell.
my rear is 15 on the yoter, that it.

girl around where i live hit a woman walking/crossing the road while driving her BMW to school senior year.
she would have not been charged since it was really not her fault but since she had her windshield tinted she is now waiting trail for negligent homicide
my buddy has 5% and 30% windshield

I don't care what others think about tinting the entire front windshield, I did it and love it. This is the second 4Runner I've done this to. Would do it again if I ever got another 4Runner.
Personally, I have had the stip in the past and never really liked it. I felt like I had to lookout underneath it just to see out. I was not taking full advantage of using my entire windshield to see out of (if that makes any sense).
So instead, I had the entire front windshield tinted to 35%. Not only does it help keep temps down inside the vehicle, but it also makes the remaining tinted windows flow together very well. Nothing like having your side windows real dark if people can still see you sitting in your vehicle by looking through the front windshield. I just think it is an effective way to "finish off" the vehicle. (Why do you think cars in many of the car commercials today have every single piece of glass tinted...it just looks good )
I had the front driver & passenger side doors tinted to 35% as well. All the remaining glass from fronts back are 20% over the factory tinted glass.
Most people that ride in my 4Runner for the first time don't even realize the entire windshield's been tinted. They can't believe it when I tell them.
And for those who have problems looking out of a vehicle with a tinted windshield, I've never had problems doing so with mine and I've never had someone else tell me they had a problem with it. (If it matters, I don't wear sunglassess either in my truck.)
Yeah it's illegal, but in the 5 years I've had this done (4yrs on my previous 4Runnern and 1 yr on my current one), I have never gotten stopped for it.

Here's a more accurate "daylight" shot. (Some of the previous pictures were taken when it was overcast):

i'd love to get the windshield tinted. its completely illegal? there's no minimum legal tint you can get? i'd think a 50% would look sweet on mine but the legality issues got me.....although my front tints are illegal....
