Front springs in the Rear?
Can I run front springs from a 79-85...I heard that each side is unique due to the design of the axle...in the rear of my truck? I've heard you can then I heard about them being different designs...Thanks

I've heard you can run the rear springs in the front. Thats what I am planning on doing and I am going to run 63" Chevys in the rear. I have an 85 axle I am going to run. It is different than an 84 I think.

It makes sense that the front springs would work in the back, as long as they are the same diameter, although they would stiffen the rear end considerably given that they were made to support the weight on the front end components & engine, but I don't know if your application would work on your truck??? More research is needed here.

You can put stock rear spring up front:

Stock front springs are basically worthless, too short, too flat, zero flex and would give negative lift if you put them on. And yes, the stock front springs are unequally arched AND unequally thick to account for the uneven front spring perch heights:

That said, if anyone has any old stock front (or rear) leaf springs laying around that they don't need, I'm interested in them. Drop me an e-mail or PM.
