Front End Clunk Noise

Guys, I need some help.

Sometimes when I do a hard stop, go over large bumps or do turns a loud Clunking noise occurs. I have brought it into the dealership 4 times now. So for they've replaced the power steering pump and the rack & pinion. Its getting pricey.
Any ideas what it could be?

As well do you know of any good links for the proper installation of the PP springs. I think they might have reinstalled them backwards too

PP's should have the wider windings facing down. Let me catch a pic in a few.

Hey Grimace,
I too was a victim of the clunking sound.
It appeared to be coming from the front drivers side of the my rig.

Last weekend I swapped out the R&P bushings as well as the front and rear stablizer bar bushings.
Thought, whew that will take care of the problem. Took it for a test drive and "Clunk", the freakin' noise is still there.

Called up my nephew to assist locating the clunking noise.
Without getting into the comical description of us driving around the neighborhood with all the doors and cargo doors open with my nephew laying on his belly in the back seats and cargo area, we found the clunking noise to actually be coming from the rear of the rig.

I jacked up the rear, removed the rear tires. I still did not see any physical clues.
I have a fabbed panhard drop bracket and thought maybe that was causing it. So I unbolted the bar and bolted it in the original bracket. All to no avail.

Pissed off as hell I removed the panhard bar just to see if there was a defect in the fabbed bracket. Still no go.

I finally threw my hands up and said f*&k it, I give up. Bolted the panhard bar back to the new bracket, put the tires on and dropped the jack.

I was at a loss. Took the rig out to make sure I didn't make matters worst. What do you know. The clunking sound was gone. I took it out that afternoon to Tinkham. ZERO CLUNKS

Not sure but I think the panhard bar bolts may have loosened.
Bolting it back on and torqing down may have did the job.

Hope this works for you.

Good luck.

I think KING is trying to tell you it might be your swaybar bushings going bad. mine is doing maybe the same thing and I have some polyurethane bushings hopefully going to be shipped soon so I'm just living with it until they hopefully arive. my rubber stock bushing on the pass side in front is torn and hanging down.

Sorry for the late update.

I don't have any more noises from up front. They replaced the sway bar bushings just like you guys said.

I'm a little annoyed that I initially forked out a lot money for nothing and the problem was finally fixed by the parts costing $30.
