Im in the process of installing the kit and by looking at the diff I can't figure this out.
For all who installed this. What is to stop the drop from causing the diff and this (yellow arrow) from hitting the crossbar?
Im afraid to unbolt till I get an answer. Talk about paranoid huh! he he

OK, I'll bite.

The differential itself should clear without any probs, but that is from looking at mine... The vacuum cannister is an altogether different story. You may need to take everything apart, drop the diff with a jack and make adjustments to the spacers as needed.

I have heard that the amount of drop achievable varies from an inch plus to only a half an inch. I think if you do a search on the TTORA board, they have a big thread there on the whole story.

All of my info at this point is second hand, I'm doing mine in a couple of weeks.

As it stands the vacuum canister is only at 1/4 inch from the crossmember and the diff is about the same. This is without the diff drop. Not sure how it would clear it when I add the spacers.

On my 4Runner that round vaccume thing is 1/4" from the cross member. I "think" that 2000 -2002 may have some issues. SInce all I have is a 99 with a custom skid, I can't rally help you.

But to answer your question, just lower the front 2 mounts and see how close the vaccume things comes. If the 1" spacers are too big sell them to someone with a 1999.

1999 the Tallest and Most diff-dropable 3rd Gen out there.

This was bugging me all night last night.
First thing this morning I crawled underneath my rig, removed the two bolts to see if it would cause the vacuum canister to hit the crossmember. To my pleasant surprise it didn't move it at all.
Installed the the drop spacers and bolted it all up in 10minutes.
Since I was under the rig I decided to grab the oil pan and do an oil change.

This is probably one of those mods that should be high on anyones list if they decide to lift there rigs.

My CV angle looks almost stock now. No fins touching.

That would be a big almost. Remember that "stock" is completely level and flat, any angle is still not right.

That led me to the ORS Manual hubs. I can't tell you how nice it is to just turn all that junk off.

Also the ORS kit increases the strenght of the front end considerably, the bearings spindle go from semi-floater to full floating, you can run the truck with the axles out, the axles center shafts are much beefier as well. Pretty much an all around better front end. with a big price to pay though......................

Ok. I had to look at my mother-in-laws 4Runner. Man was i way off. Man I can't believe my CV's used to be that straight.
