Finally more info/pics on the 05 Tacoma!

"The next-generation Tacoma is derived from Toyota’s Prado platform, which is the basis for the Lexus GX470 and Toyota 4Runner SUVs. The frame is fully boxed up front while the middle is rolled-lip C-channel and the rear is open C-channel."

Here is the link to the pictures and writeup that someone posted on TTORA:

Kick-a$$!! Good post 4x4yota.

I love the new Taco. Definite top choice if I ever get a PU- You guys know the I-Force V8 is an easy implant on that chassis, maybe for 06.

Yeah, if the V8 gets put into the Tacoma it won't be until the new Tundra comes out. I noticed in the writeup that the 4.0 V6 has more horsepower than the Dakota V8 already.

It ain't working. They fixed it.

I love the current taco too but Toyota isn't in it to please 5% of the market.
They have to keep up and also lead. Every major "compact" is larger- Toyota has been there-done that, they aren't getting caught with their pants down again.

man, a double cab with the long bed too!??! rock on!

but yeah, those chevy colorado fender flares have GOT TO GO. hasn't toyota learned that big, gaudy fender flares are not well received by toyota owners? and like i said in the other post, tone down that big dodge grill. otherwise, it looks like a very promising vehicle. no doubt theyll sell alot of these really quick.

It's big. Well, bigger... Not a bad looking truck. Maybe rework that grille though.

After sampling several versions of the 2005 Tacoma, it seems as though Toyota may have left off the latter part of its development mantra, the part that said, "Go and see what your competitors are doing, and then crush them mercilessly with a vastly superior truck that will embarrass lesser pickups into oblivion." It may not have been quite that colorful, but there's no denying the fact that this new Tacoma is far and away one of the best compact trucks ever offered to the American public.
Wow, that's all I need to hear

Yeah, it may take a while to warm up to the styling, especially the double flares on the fenders, but in other aspects the truck looks like a winner. A V6 motor with more hp and torque than the previous V6, and better mileage to boot. An interior that is more comfortable and quiet. A vehicle that is less likely to tip over during an emergency maneuver on the freeway. An extra low 1st gear ratio in the manual box. Improved passive safety features. More towing capacity.

I don't think much of it, but I can't afford one anyway, so I guess it doesn't matter. Plus, I have yet to get used to the grille on the last body style.

I definetly dont like the direction Toyota is going, and I should know about these things!! Everything is getting gaudy and unusable. The larger the trucks get, the more people wont take them on trails as they wont fit! When was the last time you saw an FJ100 on the trial? NEVER. Remind me why these things have 4 wheel drive again?

On the semi-plus side, they came up with a six speed transmission. FINALLY more gears and a lower 1st gear to boot.....on the same note, Jeep jsut introduced a 6 speed manual and a 5 speed auto for its Wranglers. Coincidence? Hmm. Now if only the transfer cases were gear drive 4:1 reduction.....

Quick Reply: Finally more info/pics on the 05 Tacoma!
