engine problems! please help

engine problems! please help

hey, for the last month my enigne light has been on and the code bank one running lean has showed up. they suggested to change the spark plugs which i did and theyalso changed one of the O2 sensors and neither of these fixed the problem. there is also now a noise when excellerating quickly...any sugestions on what could be causing the problem???

is the noise like a rattling when the the throttle is wide open? if thats it adjust your timing.

You can't adjust the timing on a 3rd gen.

Is there any way for you to get the actual code number so we can help diagnose better?

There are a bunch of things it could be (also make sure they put in the correct sensor......your first sensor is an A/F ratio sensor not just an O2 sensor and the wrong one may cause problems). Also make sure you are only using NGK or Denso plugs. It sounds like you are pinging so you might also try running some Techtron injection cleaner as well. Like I said post the actual code number and we can help much more.

same thing happened to me on my 99 4runner they changed the tps, and solved the problem.hope it helps

and I changed the spark plugs with ngk's

I think but I'm not sure it's just two plugs. It costs around 58 bucks. It's located right across from the throttle cable. hope that helps

Bank one lean (P0171 code) is typical of a dirty MAF. Do a forums search on cleaning it. Be sure to get down into the MAF hotwires, not just the IAT.

Noise under acceleration is a different issue.
