Engine differences

I am about to purchase a 03 double cab with a blown motor. I have done a couple of swaps in older model tacomas and 4runners. Their engines are interchangeable but I know that the 03s have that electronic throttle. I already have a 99 3.4 but I am not sure if it will work for the 03. Does anyone if these engines and transmissions are the same? Also what happened to all that emissions stuff on the left side of the engine bay were they moved on the 03s.

Anyone know what words to use in the search? I know I remember reading something about this awhile before I just can't remember where.

You are going to run into a ton of problems.....Either build the blown motor or install a used 03'......

I don't really see why the 99 motor wouldn't work. You may need to swap the throttlebody or possible the throttlebody and intake manifold but otherwise everything else should be good. I've never personally done the swap but I'm sure there wouldn't be much trouble in doing it.
