Should I supercharge my 4Runner?
Well, I really got the itch to supercharge my 4runner... I just want to make sure I know precisely what I am getting into. My 4Runner has 205k miles at this moment, and is on the original clutch. I would think it's advisable to replace the clutch at the same time I am supercharging it? The engine runs very smooth, and uses no oil, nor leaks any.
Money is sort of an object, so the most cost-savvy option is what would work best for me I think.
Any and all opinions would be appreciated!

The 4.10's and those almost-32's tires on our wonderful PA mountains leaves a little bit to be desired. One must ride 3rd to break 70 (for passing big rigs up the mountain), and then start to loose speed in 4th...

There are some upgrade options when you rebuild for some more kick.
If you got more questions, start a new thread and let's not hijack this one any more.

Bigtruckinwheels....My buddy just got his 99 S/Ced taco recalled for the frame rust. He was able to pull the supercharger and all the extra goodies that are needed for it off before they took it. Not really sure what he wants for it but if you are interested send me a PM and i can talk to him for you. Plus it is located down here in Harrisburg so its close by. Let me know...

are you not concerned with the amount of miles on your engine? I know that 200,000 is no where near the end of the road for a toyota but i am afraid the strain on the charger would be to much.

I voted that you shouldn't supercharge because you said you wanted the most cost efficient route, and TRD superchargers are a lot of money and they will kill your gas mileage also. Just my .02

Oh, and I meant the most cost efficient bang-for-your-buck setup, not nesc. the most cost efficient mod, sorry for not quite clarifying that haha.
All the feedback is appreciated! I would also like to hear some testimonial from owners who already did this mod, if possible. Have a great day everyone!

I have a 99 4runner that was supercharged when i bought it. The previous owner paid over 5,000 to buy and install it. It does add quite a bit of power, especially with a cold air and a performance exhaust, vs a stock 4runner, but for what its worth i would spend the cash on other upgrades.

I have a 99 with 113k with the supercharger. I put the SC on at 60k along with a tranny cooler and haven't had any problems. But....if I had to do it all over again, I probably wouldn't do it. Instead, I would put the money into a SS lift and other mods. (ARB bumper, wheels, etc.)
Sure it's faster and I like the get up and go but the stress about undo engine wear and the additional $$$ to get the upgrades isn't worth it IMHO or at least for what I want it for.

no gearing, highway revvs are too high as-is haha. I've been looking at my options for a clutch though. But if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Nowhere close to slipping, still plenty of pedal travel left as well. The last guy must have babied it... I do worry about the day it fails.

It kills your gas mileage??
You have to switch to premium but it doesn't kill your gas mileage.
