Driving with 295s
Hey everyone, I finally got my tires and rims put on. I have a 2000 4Runner with a OME suspension lift and a 2" RB body lift. I just went from 265\75\16s to 295\70\17s on Tundra\Sequoia wheels. I am running Marlin 1.25" wheel spacers because the Tundra wheels have about a 5" backspace. I will hopefully get some pics tonight. The only clearance issue I have so far (I haven't stuffed the tires yet) is a bit of a rub on the SR5 flare at partial turn over a bump (I'll just trim those up) and I was wacking my mud flaps so I took them off. My question is for all you who have gone to big tires. I had them balanced and got the truck aligned on Saturday. The truck tends to wander more now when driving. I don't know if it's just the size or because they are new or if it's a steering rack issue. My wife drove it yesterday and said she didn't feel comfortable behind the wheel. It tends to lock off course slightly and require more correction. I also have a bit of a shake that I attribute to the wheel spacers but it's not that bad and most pronounced about 50mph. For all I know, it could be acting completely normal for that size tire. I am just looking for some of your experiences when going to larger tires. By the way, the tires are Nitto Terra Grapplers.
Thanks,
Rob
Thanks,
Rob

The shake sounds to me like a balance issue. I had the same problem when I went to 315s. Discount balanced them with tape weights on the inside of the wheel only and apparently that wasn't enough. My local Discount balanced them with weights on the inside and outside of the wheel and it fixed the issue.

If you screwed around with the suspension, then the geometry was effected... you're right, you need an alignment afterwards. This is causing your truck to wander as your camber and toe in are definetly effected.
