Doubts about Intake Mods

So I have been reading about the deckplate mod and the elbow delete mod and was thinking of doing one of them. People say that if you do the deck plate its similar as doing the elbow delete. Then I thought, well why not just run with the lid of the airbox open? So thats what I did. Then I hooked up a scan tool a drove around. I noticed my intake temps read by the MAF being over 120 degrees. Outside temp about 80. With the lid closed, my temps are about 5 to 10 degrees higher than outside temperature. Seems like I should just leave the air box alone. And with a supercharger, I see no reason to delete the plastic muffler tube thing, the supercharger is gonna suck air muffler tube or straight tube, especially going down the road. What do you guys think?

Remove elbow that points to the back of the fender. Leave the rest alone. It's been dyno proven, but I can't cite the source.
