Is it alright to use 2.5'' diameter exhaust pipe on the intake for the 3.slow? 3'' pipe is a little challenging to find down here.

The VFM adapater just came in, so all i need is the pipe, rubber connector, and a fitting for the hose that comes of the intake resonator.

I need to look at getting those powerstroke rubber fittings. I used strong clamps and tightened it well, but it's a little slower taking the thing on and off. 2wice, the flexalite is great...I had one circuit board burn the solder at the connecter, but they mailed me a new one the day I called and I haven't had trouble since then. I had a loose connection. Back to the ISR- I think it helps, but if you don't have time or materials, it's not worth it. I think if I drilled out my airbox in addition to this mod, I might notice more of a difference, but I don't want to do that until I find another on in the junk yard.

There are 4 bolts that hold the stock airbox to the VFM. Remove those 4 bolts, put the adapter in place of the 4 suds that are attached to the VFM. Thread the bolts on to the studs, and place the cone-filter over the lare opening on the adapter.

I bought my VFM adapter and k and n knock off filter from Ebay for $10. The crappy thing is theres no fitting on the back of the filter to attach the hose that comes off the stock airbox. Luckily, I customized my filter so i can attach the hose on the back and gain alittle more low-end torque ,and have less intake noise. I think this is a better route than just sticking a breather on the hose.

I just finished gathering all the supplies for mine; (93 runner 3.0) I went a bit more expensive route but I think it will be good. Not exactly a huge performance gain if any really, but can't hurt; and lets face it, the 3.0 is one of the worst designed engines so anything helps!
I just bought the $40 intake pipe all ready to go from autozone plus a spectre cone filter and it's all perfect fit; a trip to home depot got me some brass barbs for the vacuum lines and some 3" pvc pipe and some plexiglass to fabricate my own VAFM adaptor for the cone filter to omit the canister crap. (Epoxy is wonderful stuff...) Expecting lots of noise and a little bit better mpg but should at least LOOK cool! haha Total cost will be around $75 I think; It's something to do while I wait to drop a real engine in the 4runner!

I like sleeper's setup, pretty robust!

I will try to get some pics posted when I actually install this... I've checked out most of them on yotatech and most of them look pretty good.

oh yeah, will be making a shroud to protect the filter from water and maybe heat; I'm going to try and divert as much cold air into it as I can. I'm also running water/alcohol injection just before the throttle body which helps intake temps and gives me more power and better mpg (very noticeable)
