I recently went up to a MT in the 285 75 16. I want to make sure that I am clearing the tire everywhere before I drive all the way to Barnwell to do some offroading. I have trimmed the flares, pounded the pinch weld and done everything I can think of to make sure that I clear these tires. Now I am not sure how to test it before I make the 2 hour trip to Barnwell Mountain just to find out I have alot of work left to do.

I have a high curb (about 16") next to the house. I put each of the front tires up on that curb and turned the wheel to full lock in each direction. I cleared the pinch weld and the flare in the front. I also put my floor jack under each of the front lower control arms and jacked the truck up and checked the clearances this way.

There really isn't anywhere that I can legally get offroad around the house. I just want to make sure I don't make a 2 hour drive just to have to spend all day under the truck with the BFH.

Well if you put each front tire up on the curb one at a time you should be alright...If you really that worried about a little rub do the same with the rear. One at a time.

If your still not happy take a cordless sawsall with you and cut out what you need while your out there.

Thanks, probably will at least take the BFH with me. I don't have a cordless sawzall but I do have a corded one and an 1800 watt inverter. Hopefully I don't still have that much trimming left.

If you want the front to flex out you need to back the rear of the truck on that curb of yours..

I guess that is true. putting the back up will compress the front more than putting the front up.

I'll try it if it ever stops raining.

You'll probably find more places it will rub on the trail, not bad though. Flexing it out like you've been doing will help you got about 95% the way there.
