True, but maybe it'll give someone who is designing a new rear bumper some ideas?

Well I tell ya what, I am itching to do some designing/fabricating... I am a mechanical engineering student (which is FAR from a mechanical engineer!) and I'm looking at my bumpers and wishing somebody would hit me so I'd have an excuse to design a new one. I'm not gonna make any promises, but is there a demand for this? I mean designing a bumper doesn't really cost money, it just takes time. Granted, the right person has to do it and have the right equipment/software. Materials are a constant more or less, and then there is the cost of production. I am cabable of designing a bumper, but not producing it (more than for myself or a couple). Most of the custom bumpers I've seen look damn there the same, which isn't bad because it's about functionality... but I wouldn't mind putting something together shortly. It is, however quite varied as to what the bumper is solving... is it for looks or brick ˟˟˟˟˟house strength or both? I honestly couldn't find a rock to hit my bumper on if I wanted to so any design really has to be specific to the user. Yeah you can say build it tougher than nails, but for a person in my place there's no reason to carry an extra couple hundred pounds for looks. Dang I'm a long winded typer...
