CB Install: yea or nay?

Ok, i finally got around to installing my Cobra 18wstx and Uniden scanner. I chose to put them in the center console, out of the way, but within reach. I did some trimming and got them to fit, tightly at that. hardwired them to the battery and ran the antenna wires to the front.... I dont have an antenna for the scanner yet... Mounted the antenna on the pass side of the front. in anticipation of a bumper to eventually mount it to, sorta expedition style. I saw a 80 series LC with 2 antennas on that corner and it looked kinda cool.
what do you think?

I like the "in the console" idea, but I think the antenna on the front is a bit much. I think you ought to move it to the back.

front is good if you have a tjm or ARB with a bracket to put it to, 4 ft stick too.

nice use of console.

do you have bumper brackets, looks like its hangin off there a bit

I agree with moving the CB antenna to the rear... I mounted my scanner antenna (cell phone look alike) on my passenger side front windshield. Works well.
I like your install... how is the audio with the radios inside the console?

i had my 4ft firestik on the back of my 4runner mounted around one of the tail lights and it worked fine and looked pretty good too. i think having it up there is a bit much, like 91_4x4 said

my bumper is falling off... i lost a few bolts... im saving for a tjm or used arb.... yeah its a wilson 1000w 4ft.

the cb audio is good, i have to have it open to clear the mic cable, it closes when its unplugged. I can pop the cover off in 2 seconds by pulling those screws out. havent tried the scanner really, no antenna so it wont pick much up except fuzz, which comes in loud and clear.

you have a pic Ric?
I tried and tried to get it to fit below the radio in the cubby. but it was too wide and was too deep. there was no way to get it to fit, even taking out the radio amp and looking at cutting the air dist box the cb was too deep. the cobra I have has a speaker on the front, vs. the top or side.... and i didnt want to mount it to the side of the lower dash.

A few members here including myself got rid of the factory double din radio and put that CB (18wstxII) where Ric did. It looks good and will fit perfect with a "L" shaped antenna adapter. I say do that and save the console space.
