Can u disable traction control!

hey guys my freind has a 04' 4runner v8 and the thing is awesome and has great power and the traction control is real good at what it does and all but theres gotta be some way to disable it cuz it would be a waaaaay funner truck if u could actually spin the tires in the wet even. I know some new mercedes have full time traction control adn the only way to disable it is threw some tricky secret code or something im wondering if there is a secret to disabling it on the 4runners. thnx

maybe.

i know there's a way to disable VSC, TRAC and ABS on the 3rd gens. i wired up a switch to do so. i like that comptuer stuff on road, but off-road it's a pain.

more on that switch here: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/show...&highlight=VSC
write-up on page 15 - it's basically splicing in a switch to a wire going into the master cylinder

jim, have you ever operated a truck in sticky conditions (wet, snow, etc) with traction control? have you ever tried to do donuts? have fun in the elements?

traction control can kill these things, especially for those of us who know our trucks well and wanna throw em around.

while, yes, it helps people drive safer on the road, its invasive if you wanna get dirty.

yes, those systems are there for your safety, but there are times they get in the way. obviously, proceed with caution when doing things like donuts and such.

the two links to threads above might give you some insight on disabling the trac systems. you might want to check out http://www.toyota-4runner.org too, i think they know the new 4runners a bit better, or at least for another forum's input.
