I can understand your comment if it was being directed towards a 16 year old kid. But I am a few years your elder - I have much more experience behind the wheel than you. If I want to run bald tires, rest assured that I am skilled enough to do it safely.

a lot of skill can help you to avoid accidents due to the error of other drivers, and can help you avoid things by maneuvering the vehicle, and those are important skills to have as a driver, of course ... i think the concern is just that when you're in a situation that requires you to exercise those skills, if your tires aren't grabbing or getting much traction then driver skill, no matter how refined and perfected that skill is, isn't going to do much.
i don't doubt your abilities as a driver, i just have some doubts about the ability of a bald tire. i think maybe that's what other people are trying to say too.

Chickenlover, chill out.
Wear bars have been around forever (exaggeration), I'm surprized that in all your years of wisdom you've never heard of them. Just about all tires have them.
jimabena74 has a valid point, that they can be unsafe. Whether bald tires are at a higher risk of a blow out, I don't know. But your wet weather traction is greatly diminished. If there's a puddle on the road you're more likely to hydroplane. It's summer but people still water their lawns, etc.
Take everybody's advice as constructive critism. You can indeed learn from people, even if they're younger than you.

Right. It's over.. We should have never let it get this far.
Robinhood. I was simply defending myself. Telling me to chill out is unnecessary.
P.S. I have worn several tires down to nothing and there was no treadbar in sight.
