A/C Button not responding!

Hey Folks,

Quick question: Has anyone here ever had their A/C button stop responding on their digital climate controls? I am praying that I won't have to buy a whole new HVAC control head ($800.00). Somebody please tell me that I can just "take things apart and clean them" .....

Any help would be appreciated.. even if you had to replace yours... let me know that was the answer to your problems.

By the way... it is an intermittent problem. Some days the button works everytime I press it.... then some days, I have to press the button about 20 times to get it to turn on OR off.

Thank you all.

James

I have the same exact problem althoguh more buttons do the same thing, liek the auto, a/c, recirc/fresh air button.

Is there a good place online to get the heater a/c control unit for less than the 800 dollars that the dealer wants?

I happened to find ONE other person who had this problem on another forum.... (there HAS to be more than just you, me and him out there).... he found a new unit online at some Toy dealership in Dallas, TX for $600.00.

Didn't say which dealer. I do know that $600.00 is still a load of crap

I suppose I could look at junk yards, but they always seem to know exactly how much parts are going for brand new and only drop their price by like 25 or 50 dollars (they are also full of it by the way) for the USED part. Probably worth it for the peace of mind to just by the new part.

Let me know if you find one cheap!

Also, if anyone KNOWS of a way to fix this, please shout out.

Thanks,

James

yank unit from dash

get down to the actual microswitch

blast with electrical cleaner

verify with a toothpick that the switch actually does work

re-install, problem-b-gon

Thank you for the response!

Quick question though... I'm with ya for all of it except for the toothpick part. How do I verify with toothpick? Will I know what you are talking about once I get down to the switch itself? I have had the unit out to replace all of the bulbs in it before, but not too sure how far into the unit the "micro switch" is.

Thank you again!

you use a toothpick to push on the button and see that
it in fact goes down and come back up with a slight click.

your fingers are too fat for the job

then plug it in and test again while the center dash it still apart
