Bumper Removal

Bumper Removal
I was wondering if anyone could tell the best way to remove the front and rear bumpers on my 1995 4runner. I'm going to be spraying them with primer and a good spay-on bed liner. I've looked for some white papers on the right bolts to remove but no luck. I can see some but not sure which ones...
Thanks,

I just removed the front one from my '93 4Runner, it should be the same. There are 2 brackets attaching the bumper to the frame, those bolts are fairly obvious if you look underneath. 2 bolts on each side. There is also 1 small bracket at each end, hidden behind the plastic fender liners. These are fiddly to get at, and on mine both bolts broke as the nuts were totally rusted on. Spray something on there the day before.
Sorry haven't ever done the back, but it should be similar. Might be a good idea to get someone to help hold them as well, not very heavy but awkward to hold with one hand and not scratch anything.

THE FRONT
this is one of the 2 main front mounts, found at the front tip of the chassis rail 14mm I think
there are side front bumper nuts to undo, you access them in the wheel wells thru the plastic dustguard via a hole in the dustguard, this is a pic of the way the bolt looks when the bumper is off
THE REAR
Did this one last year and dont have the pics but if I remember correctly:
- Prise off the top black plastic bumper protector, easy does it theres delicate snap-ins at either end (I wonder did I reckon the endcaps would be better taken off before this, cant recall)
- Remove the bumper endcaps on both sides by unscrewing them from the mudflaps and by undoing the 4? bolts? underneath.
- The main bumper itself is bolted onto the 2 Y shaped mounts (8 nuts?) that hang off the end chassis rails. The bolts are part of the bumper itself so you just wanna undo the nuts.

i am trying to take off my rear pass bumper end. i took off the mud flap and the bottom 2 bolts on the bumper end and am now at a stand still. i have yet to take the black plastic peace off the main section as it seems like it wants to brake!!!
anyone know how many bolts and where they are at?

easy as pie! first take off the pad on the top. mine put up a fight but it ran out of gas first! then there are four bolts to remove the bumper ends (each) and i stopped there. one can figure out the rest of the way but it all starts from removing the bumper pad. its just tabs holding it in, but firmly!

For the rear, undo the one bolt from the mud flap the the frame in the wheel well, and two underneath, undo the two bolts each side from the side bit to the rear bar, now the side bit will rotate out each side. Undo the 4 bolts from the centre section to the body. It will drop down slightly but it has hooks. Rotate the edges out and unhook and lower carefully. I did this laying on my back taking the weight with my knees.
