Brand new Taco... rust on bumper!
I was wasing my 2004 Taco today and I notices small rust spots on the chrome bumpers. How the hell can there be rust already? Would this be a warranty issue?

my understanding is that rust is only covered if it goes all the way through.
If I were you I'd complain to the dealer though, not because of a warranty issue, but because of a quality issue.

I think Toyotas come with a SUFRACE rust warranty, and RUST THROUGH warranty. If I remember correctly, the rust through warranty is longer. Demand that your dealer have the bumpers replaced/refinished-whatever it takes. If you have no luck, email Toyota- they always like that!

The spots are pretty small, but they are still rust. That should not be happening to a brand new vehicle. My first service is coming up soon, so I'll bring it up then.

could the rust be from the salt on the roads? It could just be the debris that is rusted and not the actual piece itself.... have you tried to scrub it off? just wondering
