Best price for Mobil1 Synthetic Oil?

Just curious what you guys are paying for Mobil 1 Synthetic (5w-30). I just changed my dino oil out for Mobil 1 full synthetic, and it ain't cheap!

CAP (Consumer Auto Parts) near me has it on sale for $4.39 a quart (w/out tax). I bought the first batch at Wal Mart in a 6 quart case and paid $4.77 a quart (w/out tax).

If there is a Costco in your area, you might check there. I have seen the 6 quart cases there. But since I already have synthetic motor oil, I wasn't in the market and didn't note the price. Costco usually can beat Wal-Mart.

The closest Costco is 45 minutes away, and I am not a member. The wholesale club I belong to, BJ's, only has it in 10w-30.

IIRC, it was $23.99 for 6 quarts the last time I bought some from Costco.

Check Wal-Mart.
The one up the street from me carries 5-qt jugs for $18.

10w-30 synthetic will work fine in a 4Runner. It flows at lower temps than 5w-30 dino oil and protects better at higher temps. I've run 10w-30 synthetic since I got the truck and it has been fine.

Your truck, your call though...

What weight are you looking for? 10W-30 is probably gonna cover most any condition you would encounter.

The cheapest I ever got Mobil 1 was $2.64/qt at Target. IIRC that was only on the quarts of the "TriSynthetic" since they were being replaced with the ones labeled "SuperSyn." Now that all they have are labeled SuperSyn the price is back up over $4/qt. I bought every single qt off the shelf at $2.64 and that lasted three oil changes but I haven't found any killer deals since then. Just get the 5 qt jugs from Wal-Mart.

Nope. I'm not kidding.

I just picked up 2 jugs of 5w-30 (SuperSyn) Mobil 1 and it cost me a total of $35.76. So, for 10 quarts, that came to approx. $3.58 per quart.

Wal-Mart Rox !!

Ahh yes but he was talking about 5w-30 synthetic, not dino...

Personally I run 5w-30. I've looked at the recommended temp ranges for the 10w, and out here the seasons fluctuate so much that it's not hard to be at the temp extremes of it. So I use the 5w to give some added cushion. I also run synthetic however.

I'm not using Mobil-1, but the oil ratings are all the same.
