Auxilary back up lights, Optilux projectors

Put these on today, pretty easy and straight forward yet for some reason took me like 4hrs vs. the one hour it took to do my Hellas! I did take my time though and made sure everything was done clean and right (painted them black to match as well).... Here are the pictures:

Pretty good idea. Good job. For the amount of darkness we have here in the winter time after getting my fogs installed, I was thinking about something like that.

Just wondering though.. Has anyone mounted a pair IN their rear bumper? I think all it would take is a hole saw. That would be pretty cool. First thing I thought of was if you were on a dirt\gravel road and the chance of rocks hitting them and knocking them out of wack. If they were in the bumper they may be protected more.

ya, thats a good idea...i thought of that then forgot about it when it went to mount them. it would be easy, just putting them inside the bumper and fliping everything upside down (turning the light itself upside down too so the "top" is the top). I'm not affraid of them getting screwed up by rocks, they're really secure but affraid of grinding them on stuff while going over dirt and obsticles or descenting hills, etc. But, my trailer hitch is lower and sticks out further back (in case of backing into stuff).

They would look grt inside the bumper but i think adjustibility would be limited.

you can take out the cutoff shields in them if you want to get rid of the cutoff and turn them into flood lights

looks good! i did the same thing with a cheapy pair of wal-mart fogs, too. that way i wouldn't feel too bad just in case i knocked them on something (i think they were like $12 on sale, so i bought a couple of pairs just in case).

I have a Hella rear fog light (red) in my rear bumper on the drivers side. I will try to get pics up later this week.

i got them off ebay pretty cheap so it won't break me if they get destroyed.
i'm mostly in the city though....
as for the shield, thanks for the heads up, i did not know that i could take it out or that there was one there....i like the crisp cut off, wonder if it would be better/brighter w/o the shield or not as "pointy" and just go short and everywhere?

Looks like the perfect place for them to get ripped off on the trail

I have thought about getting some of those same lights to mount on mine.

How is the light output? Light spread? Cutoff? Can we get some pictures from the truck looking back so we can see the beam pattern?

they are ok, nothing special about them, not very intense and have a blotchy beam pattern, at least the ones i have do, I'm sure they will work great for backup lights, but if you want good forward lighting there are better fog projectors out there...

Good to know, i was planning on testing them as backup lights before i got them for front fogs.

Guess it is back to searching for good fog projectors to replace the cheap ones i have up front now.

they're decent fog lights, better then no brand name Shuck's specials or the oem's up front that come with limiteds. But, they're still fogs, ie: the beam pattern is not very focuses or far reaching, they are not driving or pencil beam.

ya, i keep thinking about them getting messed up off road but i don't really go wheelin' or anything.....accassional dirt road and the dunes but may still move them insie the bumper.

I would not put these up front and hope they improve anything. They are a good supplement or "fill" in light if you already have good headlights. If you want an improvement up front get a quality driving light for the street or quality off road pencil beam for the trails.

but, these are on the back, keep this in mind pls.
