Armor Mods Complete, Custom Rear Bumper Done!!!

Just got in from a LONG day of driving and sitting getting my rear bumper made and getting lost in Atlanta, lol thanks to Mark for directing me all the way through atlanta. I dont have to good of pics right now but I will get some better ones tomorrow. The bumper was made at Kennesaw and was a great place to deal with. The quality is good and very stout. I also decided at the last moment to get a tire carrier, which I'm glad I did. And everyone take a number, I believe Steve had first dibs so I guess you can start after him since you think I will sale it in a few months, which I WILL NOT. And no Adam, it wont fit your 1st generation :p

Nice job. Looks very good. I like it when mods make a 4Runner look 'rough'.

Just a word of caution: On rear mounted spare tire vehicles, low speed impact (such as getting rear-ended, knock on wood) will usually both dent the rear panel and break the window, costing lots of $$$ to fix.

This was more recently seen when 5 mph crash tests were done on vehicles such as the Toyota RAV-4 and Honda CRV, both with rear-mounted spares. It pushed the tire in, which pushed everything else in and broke the window. I'd recommend putting the spare up top if possible instead, just in case.

The 4Runner sits higher than both of the aforementioned vehicles, so hopefully the results wouldn't be the same. Just my opinion and tryin' to help...

Thanks Eric
The purpose of the bumper is for offroad use. The stock bumper would not hold up good against rocks etc. Moving the tire to the back is so when I get 33s, i can have a spare, cant fit a 33 under the rig.

Hi Josh, see my post in the test section.
We are working on getting back the custom uploading.

Also in the future when you do choose the upload option, you have to go back and check that box again to use it, as it gets unchecked when you use the browse button for the avatar.

Eric, that is really a sweeeeeeeeeet bumper. My rear one will look kind of like that too, but without the spare tire mount.
It will have a jerry can mount on it so I can take the one off of my rack.

PS..........
Avatar uploading is now online again.

Why's the spare mounted at an angle?

I really dont know why its mounted at a angle, didnt ask. As for the tire being dirty, I could never take it down from the tire place because the thing was stripped, so it just stayed there and when all there is is mud around here thats what happens to the spare.

Hey Phil,

Two reasons to move the spare: It give you more clearance underneath and when you get stuck and need to change the tire you don't need to dig it out from under the truck. Well, a third reason, it looks cool.

Hi J, yep.
One day I'll end up getting a swing out rear bumper.

The one on back is the only chrome thing left on the rig

OK..ok.. I know this post is almost a year old. but I'm building a new garage ($62K) so I can Buy a new welder (220V~$450) so I can weld more stuff onto my truck. That back bumper looks heavy and it looks like it was done by people who knew what they were doing, add 20 lbs to mine. all on a truck that is already underpowered and looks like an old german shepherd with hip displasia. so the question is will I have any left? any cash, that is for gearing up past 4.88's ??
