Got my arb on a few day ago and i took a pic this morning. The install was easy, but i need to modify the mounting holes and slide the bumper up another 1/2 inch due to my body lift. it isnt too bad now, check it

thanks, and i know the wheels would be sick black, but they are discontinued and were never offered in black

and yes it is a tacoma bumper. everything lines up and fits because the tacoma and 4runner have similar frames

spray paint them rims man!!!!

anything can come in whatever color you want it..you just have to make it!

just rough em up with som sand paper..tape of some spots to make em stand out (not just all black..leave some spots chrome) spray em down..

How much body lift do you have on there? Remember you want about 1/2" gap anyways so it doesn't rub up against the body panels.

i have a one inch bl. and i was gonna slide the bumper up 1/2 inch leaving a 1/2 inch gap, or close to it i actually have not measured the gap. fixing it will be a pain in the a**

A2B in a TLC

ARB says the frame rail end (1999 4Runner) should be reinforced with a welded plate. Has anyone done this? From my hours of research on this forum, it would appear that most are simply cutting off the flanges and mounting the brackets & bumper.

Please - if anyone has photos or a writeup on the frame rail reinforcement, please post.

Looks great. I want one! Has anyone installed an ARB with stock suspension? Should I look into stronger springs first?

I do not think the bumper is all that heavy that you 'need' a suspension upgrade but it could never hurt. I have PP springs on mine and the ARB in the garage waiting to be powder coated and installed.

Thanks Brian. That is great. It's one thing to fit the bumper on. But if one plans to use a winch, this mod is important.

I figure the reason ARB DOES NOT provide complete instructions has to do with liability issues. The Taco bumper has not been officially tested - especially the airbag sensors - for the 4Runner. Even though everything will probably work just fine, if there is a problem and a complainant can point to ARB 4Runner install instructions..... oops.

ARB is a GREAT company. I have used their winch bumper, OME leafs, IPF lights, etc on my HJ60.

You're welcome Bruce. The weather down here is wonderful right now, but it was snowing last week. Looks like we might be in for a sunny Christmas this year.

BTW, I bolted my bumper on and then I welded the mounting brackets to the frame rails with 1" strips on the top, bottom, and both sides of each frame rail (where I could grind the welds if I ever wanted to remove the ARB). I think my method is easier and just as strong if not stronger than the "weld the L plate and bolt the bumper on" method.

hey thanks brian. do you know if doing this will still allow the bumper to be strong enough for heavy winching?

I would say no. This will just make it look better with the body lift. I think heavy winching would put too much leverage on the mounts IMO.
