huh, is it

So when you crank it the internals of the tire winch are turning? You may just need to crank it back a few cranks and shake the tire as it may just be froze up. Mine was rusted tight and I had to cut the chain but yours should be a cable. If I’m not mistaking the cable ones are just like a bobbin with a ratchet so if its turning and the tire isn’t moving the cable may be balling up inside of the winch? I’m not sure....

Counterclockwise to lower. Make sure you are pushing in REALLY hard and turning at the same time.

984runnerone,

please do NOT write topic titles like this. you could have just simply write "problems removing my spare tire".

please refer to stickied post: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=53802

thanks,
bob

theres prob a kink in the cable, u try pulling on the tire itself, or try tightening it and then lowering it?

I dont think there is a kink, i tried pulling the tire down noting, its still snung tight, it would not tighten either, it would just keep spinning both direction...Do I have to buy a new spare tire holder or whatever its called..

Could it just be that years of grime have built up around the tire, and it's just stuck up there? Try loosening the cable (a few counter clockwise cranks), the give the tire a few good kicks to try and break it free.

might be a user error....

Doesn't seem like a common problem

Make sure the turner is cramed in tight before u try to turn it...

do you have a hitch? bc on mine, i usually loosen the cable, then kick the tire bc it gets stuck on the hitch. so just see if its too snug up against the hitch/other parts and knock it loose

Sometimes the pin (the one that spins around) can slip out and not actually engage the mechanism that lowers down the tire. As you are turning the crank push into it and see if the pin slides back into the lowering mechanism. Hopefully it will work... and hopefully that made sense...

once you get the tire down, crawl under there and remove the crank mechanism. mine is completly seized, ive soaked it in penetrating oil for a week and still wont budge. ive resigned myself to tossing the spare in the back for now. my solution is a custom bumper from cebby!
