i would go after an aftermarket system like a DEI (Viper, Hornet, etc.). If you wanna get fancy, go with a Viper with remote start and the 2 way pager type deal...i've gotten estimates around 500-700..whew. In order for any type of remote start to work in our vehicles (i have a 2003 4Runner Ltd), they'll have to bypass the engine immobilizer doo-hickey...
anyways...good luck...let us know what you decide..

I've got the "fancy" Viper auto start, alarm, window roll options installed in my 99 LTD. the easiest way to bypass the factory stuff was to leave it alone; they did this by cutting my valet key off and hiding it close enough to the ignition to satisfy it when the auto start requested a relay start. the factory fob still works but i never use it as the Viper has huge range and more features.
Go with the Viper! Long install and expensive but its never caused me problems. I start my truck from over 400ft away on cold days from my office desk. Tom

Ditto !
I have the Viper 790XV on my 03. They have a new more compact remote coming out soon which my installer will swap out for free. Someone asked me recently if my Viper remote/2 way pager was a really small cellphone David

Yes, clifford is still around...i think i saw clifford system at bestbuy. But clifford is a part of DEI...just like viper.
btw nrgetic99 ...can i ask how much you paid for the system and install? i'm jealous...i was seriously thinking about getting the same alarm system, but i'm low on funds....
