Hi All,

Is there any point in getting a 'tupid' lockout alarm installed in our 4th gens? My stealer pressured me into getting their lockout system (Magnadyne Silencer), the stealer mis-represented the car saying that the factory settings provided only keyless entry and immobilizer! It seems though that the 4th gen has all the features anyway!

Features offered/covered in stock car

Keyless entry/exit
Immobilizer
Panic
Auto-arm, re-arm
Forced entry alert
Hot-wire alert
Pathway illumination
Valet mode

The only feature that the stealer alarm offers extra is a Dome Light power sense!.

Anyone have any comments?

The only bad thing about buying a Toyota vehicle is dealing with some of the sales reps.

My suggestion is never ever buy any dealer installed crap

It's way over priced and all they care is your back pocket getting thinner.

Bottom line about alarms: if someone wants your vehicle real bad, it doesn't matter what kind of alarm you have. I'm surprised they didn't push for the lojack system instead of the POS alarm?!?

Get this though, I called Corporate, then I called the stealer boss. The stealer boss told me "this is most unusual", bring the car in and the related paperwork. If you are correct, we will issue a full refund!!!!

When I purchased my Tacoma in 2000 it was one of the options I had. I just got the crappy basic alarm and they had to schedule someone to come out to the dealership to install it.
