OK guys, time for some new brake pads!! I'm probably going to be getting a brake job done soon, gettin the rotors turned and the pads replaced and I was wondering if there are any good aftermarket pads out there or if I should just go with the OEM ones.

What do you guys think???

I'll never buy oem again. Don't get me wrong, they are not bad pads! There are just much better to be had. If you are happy with the brakes the way they are, get oems. If not, get something better. My slotted rotors and carbon metallic setup was by far the best ive used so far. Do a search, there was a big discussion about this rescently... actually twice...

I'm saying oem unless you're having probs with your brakes. I'm with turb. I've also be told there is a certain year landcrusier that has a little larger pad that fits perfect on the 2nd gen runners. Sorry, I don't have the part #....maybe someone else has it.

I have Performance Friction pads. Someone told me a few years back that these are the pads that TRD used.

of course my vote is for OEM (cause I sell em) . To many aftermarket pads use a harder compound so your pedal feels firmer, but they typically squeel and wear your high $$ rotors out quickly. Now drilled and/or slotted rotors high performance pads are ok.. But for reliability and longevity OEM

Where can I get Brembo slotted rotors for 15 in wheels? I can't seem to find them anywhere? More than anything I want my Runner to stop. The stock brakes suck even though I have the PF Pads. I think the Rotors are absolutely done for. What we really need is someone to do a rear disc brake conversion for the 3rd gen

I think this is one, but they won't sell the kit, they want to install it, for liability reasons.

I have the Performance Friction pads. I noticed no performance difference from stock, although the OEM anti-squeal plates were of higher quality. Then again, my brakes don't squeal either, so I guess the PF ones are good enough. They are significantly cheaper than OEM. So if you are price-conscious, go with PF; if you want absolute peace of mind, go OEM.

I'd choose OEM but any high-end aftermarket would do, not the cheap ones that crack under high heat. for the rotors I may go with Raybestos over OEM.

I'll just go with OEM's when I need em...should be in a month or two. I'm getting my bilsteins on this week so when I have it up in the air I'll look at em and see how they're doin.

Keep the suggestions coming, the brakes are fine the way they are but sometimes I haul a small 5x8 trailer with a 4-wheeler on it and I was just wondering if I could get something that would be better fit for that.

i say dont bother getting the OEM rotors turned. just buy a set of brembos and OEM pads and be happy!

I'd go OEM on drum shoes, I've seen some real aftermarket crap in that dept.
When it comes to front pads, there are a few aftermarkets that meet or exceed OEM.

Sounds like you are just doing the fronts. There are quite a few choices (can't name them all here, there are a bunch of threads on front pads). Rotors you can either go OEM or Brembo (which most would suggest) if you can't turn the rotors due to thickness limits or if they are warped (don't bother to turn them if they warped!!!).

ok sounds good, hopefully i will be safe as i dont want spend $$$$ on rotors now but if there warped then i will get brembos....whats so special about them?
How can i tell if they are warped?...the guys at the shop?
