Adding a digital clock

Has anyone ever tried installing a factory digital clock into a truck that originally didn't come with one? I have a '94 P/U with the square hole in the dash blocked off, no clock. I would like to get one out of the junk yard, are the ones in the '85-'88 trucks the same as the '89-'94? Thanks.

I believe they are the same. They sell em on ebay all the time.
I've heard many times that they will just plug in, the wires are there. Can't vouch for it personally though.

I don't know if they are the same as the '84-'88 clocks.

In my truck, the wires were already there. Basically plug and play.

I put one in my 90 Yota pickup, from a 95 4Runner. The 2-3 screws that held it in the dash were in different spots on the 4Runner than on my truck, so I had to do some modifications. That is a pain....find one that lines up with your setup.

clocks are not the same between the generations. IIRC mounting and wiring harness differences. Not to mention the price differences for new ones from Perf. producs.

if you can match up the clock with the harness, installing it may be fairly easy. the steps are all the same as putting in a radio -- remove the lower dash starting with the bolts near the glovebox, and work your way left until you get to the middle area. you have to kind of jiggle it around a bit and take out various bits like the ventilation knobs, etc. but you'll eventually have the panel off. the plate that covers where your clock ought to go may even just have clips on the back. as rockota said above, it's the harness that may really make this a PITA if it doesn't match up. following good instructions i bought at www.carstereoremoval.com it took me about half an hour the first time, and when i realized i hadn't put things back just right, taking it all off the second time took about 10 mins.

I added one to my 94 but used one from the 89 - 95 series and it was a piece of cake. Wires were there plugged into the back of knock out and all I needed to do was round up two screws for the holes to fit up!! Real simple cange if you get the right clock!! Good luck!!

Exclamation Ive got one thats yours if you pay shipping.

I bought one at the bone yard out of a 90 thinking it would fit my 88, the wire is the same but the clock mounts differently. I found one for my 88, and kept the one for the 90 just in case. If any one wants to add one to thir 89-95 pickup or 4 runner it should fit. Like I said you pay shipping its yours! Matt
